KASHIRI NASHI,
an ashaninka story
Kashiri Nashi narrates with his voice and song the history of his people, becoming a promise of Peruvian poetry. Not only is it the only one of its kind, but it also represents a document of oral tradition.
The Asháninca or Asháninka people are a Peruvian Amazonian ethnic group belonging to the Arawak linguistic family. Nashi, originally born in her Ashaninka village, migrated to the capital at a young age, becoming one of the first Ashaninka singers, whose goal is to diversify her culture.
Editorial concept made in conjunction with photographers Anne Tasayco, Maria Arancibia and Lucia Palma in 2017, Lima, Peru
