Zapf Dingbats Poster

Poster created to represent the typeface ‘Zapf Dingbats’. Created by Hermann Zapf in 1978 it started out as over 1000 sketches of signs and symbols that were later whittled down to 360 which became known as Zapf Dingbats. This poster represents the number of symbols and the repetition of drawing them by Hermann Zapf in the creation of the typeface.

I imagined Hermann going mad as he created the typeface, crazily scratching the symbols into the walls of his cell like tally marks as he slowly lost his mind, his hands bleeding and… No? Just me? Okay.
