Exposed In The Light

This body of work, and the protagonists within them, symbolize myself and are a projection of my life in Poland, far from where I was born and the comfort of living with what I knew. Often, this different life, takes on aspects of loneliness filled with anxiety as I learned to cope, process and adjust to life as a stranger.

During my process, the lone figure, is something that I have felt extremely connected to and compelled to explore, using these figures to paint a version of my own story of perseverance and conflict that you see in these vignettes.

Of course, time has allowed me to grow, and my focus has shifted some in recent years, as I discover new questions that require further examination and evaluation. Exposed In the Light is an examination of my own vulnerabilities, solitude, and desire for acceptance.

I often write about some of my projects here: Erik Witsoe Blog
