"Professional vs amateur" Steven Pressfield

My relationship with Steven Pressfield’s War of Art is strange. I would gift the book to everyone to read but in reality, I didn’t let my friend borrow it. The same way I wouldn’t lent a favorite shirt. Strange.

I’d argue that it’s the most recommended book online among creatives. Part of every Books creatives should read listicle and YouTube video. To a point where (I’d assume) most people skip it. “Oh it’s that one again…” But cliches become cliches because they are true. It should be required reading.

War of Art is about the force that has the ability to make work impossible. Pressfield names it Resistance. He calls it the arch enemy of creative work. While it’s not possible to win this war once and for all, he does provide encouragement and a working strategy.
The book really upturned the furniture in my mind. It had to be included in this oner season on the subject of turning pro.
