LUCKY - Photo essay (2021)

LUCKY - A photo essay about life changes during Covid-19 lockdown (2021)
“A Dog’s Confession” is a photo essay that revolves around the topic of the Covid-19 pandemic - seen through the eyes of a puppy. The project was conducted during the most intense four-month lockdown of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (July - October 2021). The result was a new and rather hopeful angle on this global pandemic.
The confession the puppy - Lucky - made through this photo essay is fictional and based on the author’s reflection, as the author believes that dogs (and animals in general) can resonate with human emotions.
The title of the photo essay is inspired by the book series “A Dog’s Purpose” by W. Bruce Cameron. It was from Cameron’s book that the author started to observe her puppy and question his unspoken emotions during the pandemic.
The project was developed under the course “Photography 101” (July - September 2021), RMIT University of Vietnam.

All photos were taken with a Canon EOS 70D. Its assets were developed using Adobe Lightroom (retouch) and Adobe Indesign (layout).
