Callaway Serial

Character Design
A new client contacted me and asked if I would be willing to do a picture for their magazine. The author was a well known speaker, (Phil Callaway) and the story was a humourous take on the old television show, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. They wanted the old U.N.C.L.E. logo reworked with a twist from the article.
I got a call the next month asking if I could do another illustration for another Phil Callaway story. This one was about not being able to get rid of things. To entertain myself, I looked Phil up on the internet and made the fellow in my picture look a little bit like him.
I got another call the next month and again it was for a Phil Callaway article, this one on golfing. I had to have some sort of golfer character in the picture, so I decided to do my little caricature of Phil again.
I got another call to do a Phil Callaway magazine article, but this time the editor asked me to make Phil the policeman in the picture. I thought this was funny because the editor and I had never talked about any of the other pictures actually being Phil.
The last Callaway story I did was a play on the old television show Hogan's Heroes. The editor wanted Phil climbing over a fence dressed in Hogan's outfit. My little Phil caricatures seem to have morphed into an ongoing serial.
