Design Brief
Research biomimicry and sustainability. Choose a form in nature that can translate into a design image, pattern, and product. Create a business from that image.

My Concept
Many steps were taken to develop this company. Biomimicry research, identity development, fabric pattern sketches, packaging design and developing a business plan were only a few steps in this process.

The design of my company was developed around the pine cone and its unique ability to respond and protect itself in varied weather conditions. I designed my products around this idea, creating a line of casual “smart clothing” that would keep one cool in the heat and dry in the rain without stifling their style.

I designed a series of patterns inspired by the pine cone that were applied to fabrics and made into three different products: a long sleeve button up shirt, a tie, and a messenger bag. Along with designing these products and their packaging, I developed a comprehensive business plan that defined ways of production as well as specifications for income.
