Photo essay location: Vernon Hills

This is the are I grew up in: Vernon Hills, Illinois. Vernon Hills has been a pleasant community all of my life. It has a calming effect with its community and nature. It has been building up since the early 2000s. It has changed from a small community to a bustling town. People can now go to places by using Grubhub, Ubereats, and other food delivery services. This town offers festivals for upcoming seasonal events: Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer. This traveling section will give you the tour to this Midwestern community. 

The first photo I selected is Aspen Elementary School, where I attended from 5-6th grade. This one had modern architecture with De Stijl like features.

The second one is Augusta park, another neighborhood park similar to Aspen backyard park. . I find that place to be easier to walk compared to my park in my area.

The third one is Aspen Drive Library. People can go there and get their coffee or their movies. I find that area to be accommodating as well. It’s a lot better than the video store.

This location In Century Park has nice apartments, a baseball field, and a sled hill for winter season. What’s cool about this place is that people can walk up to see Big Bear Lake.

The fifth photo is Big Bear Lake, where people can catch and release fish. This spot has a very nice view of the surrounding area. They can view the apartments from there. 

The sixth photo is Hawthorne Mall. Vernon Hills residents and newcomers can shop here. It's still in good use, but slowly dying. 

The seventh photo is Mellody Farms, which opened in late 2018. This location is known for its suburban art and casual restaurants. 

The eighth photo is the bike or walking path, where people can enjoy the outdoors. 

The ninth photo, the Vernon Hills sign which leads travelers feeling welcome.

The tenth photo is the local golf course, where people can go and enjoy a leisurely day. Vernon Hills has other golf places where people can play on the field or enjoy a round of golf.
