Design Brief:
Create an infographic based on the artist that you are assigned. (Infographic = a visual representation of information or data through charts and minimal text that gives an easy to understand overview of a topic.)
Your infographic should include some of the following:
• brief bio
• work experience
• description of style
• samples of work
• quotes
• specializations
• notable brands or specific work
• awards
• educational experience
• lectures
• other interesting topics

Finished pieces will be 11x16 (we have 12x18 stock, so add bleeds to the 11x16 if you are planning on work that goes to the edges of the paper.)

Tips:
• Font choice should match the subject matter and/or style of the artist you are representing (no more than 2 different typestyles, though)
• Visual style of the finished pieces should follow the visual style of the artist you are presenting
• Information needs to be clear and easily accessible
• Infographics are meant to be used as quick distributers of complex info, so summarization and simplification is key
Visual Brief
Process
I began with rough sketches of various possible design elements, based off of the cover of Hofmann's Graphic Design Manual and the examples within it. This included a custom typeface made of circles occluded by rectangular voids, as well as a design featuring some of Hofmann's best known posters against a chaotic black-and-white background made of overlapping copies of the letter 'i'.
Once I had these components, I began trying to fit them together into one cohesive design:
I fiddled with sizing and alignments, as well as the incorporation of the 'i' shape into the rounded type of Hofmann's name. This eventually yielded the finished poster:
