Project 5 - Project Brief

Create a 7X10” booklet featuring a favorite talk from the October 2021 LDS General Conference. We were to create it with someone in mind, to whom we could give it as a gift. It needed to include a minimum of three colors, creatively use glyphs and design work. Only one picture allowed, and that was a picture of the speaker. The cover design was to be fun, creative and inviting - encouraging someone to pick it up and start to browse. Page numbers, headings and some kind of subheadings or easily defined breaks in the text were to be used.  Design principles such as the use of white space, balance and unity among the pages, yet enough differences between pages to maintain interest. Using scale and contrast and hierarchy were also important elements of design that I employed.

I chose the talk “Worthiness is Not Flawlessness” given by Elder Bradley R. Wilcox.  His talk was particularly meaningful to myself and my family and I intend to have it printed out for our family, but I also have another person in mind to whom I hope it will make a meaningful gift.

This was a fun process, but challenging, as the only design elements we could use were glyphs and shapes.  But I'm pleased with the outcome and am anxious to have it printed!
