Project Brief
Create a series of three professional print ad posters for the Ad Council that could be used in a Public Service Announcement (PSA). The posters should promote an important issue or topic that affects communities. The posters should include one of the 7 creative strategies:
Combination
Juxtaposition
Isolation
Metaphor or Simile
Change of Content or Environment
Physical/Shape Similarity
Material Change, Swap, or Focus
Topic: Refugees
I chose to highlight that anyone can reach out and help light a path and that everyone has the power to help refugees get settled in their new communities. Can you imagine moving to a new country with a completely different culture and a completely different language being spoken? That is what the refugees face when they are placed in their new communities.
Each of us can help them to become settled by being a friend, help them learn English (or the language of your country), help them become settled in their homes and neighborhoods, help them find doctors, and shopping centers. There is so much that we can do to help their transition be successful.
My hope is that my posters would spark someone to think that they can make a difference and that they can help.

Concept A
Creative Strategy Used: Physical Shape/Similarity. I replaced the filament with a heart shaped filament.
Concept B
Creative Strategy: Juxtaposition. I replaced the handle of the flashlight with traveling refugees.
Concept C
Creative Strategy Used: Metaphor/Simile. The orb gives off the appearance of power. Each of us has the power to help. Every little bit counts.
