Dimitri Fogolin's profile

I made a few illustrations for the satirical magazine called MATARAN.
This one is about the Humiliation of Canossa, which is (L'umiliazione di Canossa), also called the Walk to Canossa or the Road to Canossa, was the ritual submission of the Holy Roman Emperor, Henry IV, to Pope Gregory VII at Canossa Castle in 1077 during the Investiture controversy.
This picture illustrates historical events during the Carnival in 1511 in Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy. Carnival is a festive Catholic season that occurs before the liturgical season of Lent.

A Great Plague ravaged Friuli Venezia Giulia in 1556. Yersinia pestis, a known bacteria, caused the outbreak.
