America's Police Problem

I have an interest in infographics. They can tell amazing stories and also be informative. This is my first stab at developing my own infographic from a data set about police shootings in the United States.
My first step to every design process is visual research, I love looking at the work of others and finding inspiration and guidance. Most of these images were found on Pinterest.
Here is the process: lots of sketching, even more than shown here, type and color selection, and iterative layouts
Final Iteration of Poster
I learned a lot from this project, especially in regards to understanding data and then developing a visual narrative from that data, as well as creating data visualization assets. It was a lot of work to sort through the data and develop the narrative, and all that work took place before any graphic assets were created! It was a tough project, but ultimately made me a better person and designer.
