GAME DESIGN AND
DEVELOPMENT CAMPAIGN
Design/Layout
Excerpt from My experience working with Wilmington University as an intern to help design the promotional material for the Game Design and Development Program.

I took what they wanted, a design geared more towards younger students.  I came up with two directions , a grungier style that would appeal more towards students and gamers (think Call of Duty) and a cleaner more plastic feel (think x-box) that would appeal more towards the parents.  With the way I design, originally it was supposed to work within the regular green header that WilmU has, but we were later allowed to design a standalone, microsite with a custom URL which opened the doors to a design that would be more cohesive.  There was a lot of back and forth with design decisions and making sure I had the okay before I could move forward.  I was the type of designer who would send out a project and expect feedback asap but in working with University Relations I had to learn a great deal of patience and time management because this was not the only project my Manager and Director were working on. At the same time, they would have to wait for feedback from their superiors as well.  In the end we decided on a cleaner site with a more metal background.  It reads more mechanical to me, with the screws and the brushed metal.  I worked closely with Paul Patton to make sure the video he was shooting would matchup with the space I allotted for video.  I also worked close with Ryan Higgins, who coded the site to make sure he could navigate the monster of a .psd file I had and understood the transitions and overlays needed.  At the time I was used to working on complete projects by myself, so being surrounded with other talented people for feedback, critique and sharing the work to get a complete project was an eye opening experience.

In 2011, Wilmington University was awarded a gold accolade in Advertising by the CASE II District for the Game Design and Development Campaign.
May 2011 I was given a medal of achievement from the College of Technology for the work I did as an intern for University Relations.
