step 1: Visual Research. 

You are going to want to do some visual research, which means going on the internet and studying the work of professionals. You need to really get an idea of what a good business card looks like. are also going to want to decide what business information you will want to put on the card during this stage. Name, profession, contact information etc.

step 2: Sketching. 

After you have an idea of what a good business card looks like, it's time to begin brainstorming. This means writing ideas down and most importantly sketching out those ideas. You are going to need a lot of sketches to choose from, its good to have too many options than not enough.

step 3: Digital sketches. 

Once you have a ton of sketches, begin choosing a few favorites that you would like to see digitalized. Seeing how a sketch looks in digital form is extremely important. Some sketches look good as sketches but look bad as digital art. You are also going to want to experiment with the placement of information during this stage as well.

step 4: Color. 

Once you have created some good compositions, begin experimenting with different colors. Colors can effect your overall design greatly. 

step 5: Pick your favorite and print.

Finally, once you have seen how your designs look in different colors you must choose your favorite. Once you have picked out your favorite save it into a file or send it as an email to yourself and get it printed and cut out on card stock. AND YOU"RE DONE!
