Tove Jansson, Island of Bredskär, 1952 woodcut print

Tove Jansson in the Island of Bredskär, 1952
Original woodcut art print
An original woodcut print created by hand, limited edition signed by artist.

Inspired by a photograph of Tove Jansson in the Island of Bredskär holding a telescope.
Tove Jansson (1914-2001) was the acclaimed Finnish artist and author who gained world renown as the creator of the Moomin stories.
Tove and Lars Jansson bought the island and built a house called Vindrosen (The Wind Rose) in 1947.

The process involves retouching the image to enhance some elements, converting it into an illustration, carving in a relief using carving knives and then printed by hand.
I use Abachi woodblock, top shelf ink, and Japanese Awagami fineArt paper (Kozo Thin Natural).
This piece will add a crafted vintage touch to any living room, bedroom or entryway.

"Tove" is part of a larger series of original woodcuts, also including:
"Audrey Hepburn, Roman Holiday 1953"
"John F. Kennedy JFK & daughter Caroline 1960"
"Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller 1956"

Paper size: 57x42 cm
Neto print size: 41x26.5 cm
