Plastic pollution has become one of the most debated environmental issue, as the rapidly increasing production of disposable plastic products overwhelms the world’s ability to deal with them. As part of Plastic Ocean International, a non-profit organisation working to end plastic pollution and foster sustainable communities worldwide, I created a conceptual campaign to raise awareness of plastic pollution in our oceans.
The campaign consists of a series of typographic prints using cyanotype printing to highlight the outlines of the plastic rubbish collected from my local river. The visual identity of the cyanotype prints can also metaphorically act as an X-ray of the oceans, allowing us to question our use of plastics and the consequences of disposing of them.
