Echoes of Wrocław (Pogłosy Wrocławia)

Over the years, architectural structures change their functions by adapting to the current needs of people and the times in which they live. Architecture and its soundscape is a silent witness to urban history whose memory – metaphorically speaking – is inscribed in the walls. Echoes of Wrocław (Pogłosy Wrocławia) is the title of a residency project intended to examine the changes in Wrocław’s soundscape by focusing on three buildings selected by the artist, Anka Kasperska: the Oppenheim House, the House of the Ladies of Trzebnica (the Romanesque House) and the Monopol Hotel.
The idea for the identification of this project came from sound waves. Sound of spoken word was recorded, then roughly outlined to vector path and exported to Blender, where screw modifier was applied to achieve three dimensional abstract form. A number of renders was made.
The decision was made to use brighter background for identification of the Project. Identification included Facebook cover photo, 2-page flyer, vertical TV screen and website.
A simple website was made as a addition to the residency project, where user – through map interaction – could hear sounds of all three locations in the city.
