Branding, packaging and menu design for Pondi Foods

Branding, packaging and menu design for
Pondi Foods, UK

A food start-up business called Pondi foods, with a primary focus in developing and distributing ‘convenient food’. i.e., Any edible items that are semi-prepared so that the end user can quickly make them to completion (ready to eat). These can be food items that need heating, marinated food that need to cook in oven, sauces, etc.

Pondi was founded by a group of Malayalee entrepreneurs who are now based in the UK. So, their primary interest is to create a South Indian themed brand. Hence, the colour palette as well as the brand system was designed with the thought of being Indian, organic, earthy and in an attempt to seek some curiosity.

Calotropis gigantea which disperses it's seeds on to the air, which is popularly known as 'Appooppanthaadi' here is Kerala, India, is the graphic logo form and identity of the brand. It is strongly associated with the nostalgia of their hometowns and reminds one of their childhood days; running behind the dispersed seeds and blowing them off into the air as they fall down.

The menu prints we done on a big demy 300gsm art card paper and laminated with a matt finish.
