Trends in Trucking and Freight Services

Seward Motor Freight, Inc. is a family owned company located in Nebraska providing transportation serve to all 48 states with focus on the Midwest, East, South and Southeast areas. As a longtime member of the American Trucking Association, company employees donate their time to serve on the association’s Small Carrier and Technology Committees helping improving the industry with a focus on reducing fuel emissions and increasing efficiency through technology.

To remain viable in an increasingly competitive world, long-haul trucking companies must keep abreast of changes in the logistics sector. These include greater digitization, optimizing services, and more environmentally responsible practices:

1. Embedded Technology. Logistic and Transportation companies are turning to embedded technology to make communications, safety and access to real time data more effortless for their customers, administration, drivers and vehicles. This also incorporates providing digital training to employees so that they, too, can facilitate the digitization of their sector.

.2. Service Line Optimization. When Covid-19 struck, a strategy adopted by logistics and transport companies was to re-optimize their service lines. The goal was to focus on industries or products that thrived the most such as personal protective equipment (PPE).

3. Zero-emissions Transportation. In the US, the transport sector accounts for 28.2 percent of the total greenhouse gas emissions. As global concern about climate change continues to grow, the transport sector will continue to lead by committing to programs like SmartWay when it comes to fuel economy and emissions for class 7 and 8 vehicles. As a way to comply with global emissions standards in the future, original equipment manufacturers (OEM) are looking towards different fuel sources such as ethanol, hydrogen, natural gas, propane and electric trucks to be the standards of the future. Seward Motor Freight, Inc. has partner with SmartWay in effort to control greenhouse emissions
