"The Exquisite Corpse" was created as a proposal for a Self-Guided Family Resource at The Wellcome Collection, at their museum in London.
Through this interactive augmented reality experience, players can select eyes, noses, torsos and limbs from the exhibits in Being Human, Medicine Man and the Reading Room. Once every element has been chosen, they are combined in the app to create a unique Exquisite Corpse.
By clicking on each component of their Exquisite Corpse, the user can discover more information about that particular exhibit, thereby creating a tailored visitor experience that encourages deeper learning. Every Exquisite Corpse is also uploaded to the museum's Instagram feed.
The aim is not to create the ‘perfect’ body. Instead, the Exquisite Corpse invites players to celebrate the body in all its multifarious forms, and to ask: what makes a body?
