Bohol: Destination Branding

During my first color theory class, we were assigned to rebrand local provinces in the Philippines while taking into consideration different types of color combinations. For my group, we were assigned the province of Bohol and a complementary color palette restriction.

The logo takes the big idea of adventure and builds this up through forms of the sea, hills, and mountain ranges of Bohol. It plays to the region’s strengths by incorporating a tarsier into the sun above it, as it is known to be one of the trademarks of Bohol.

The color palette is based off the locations, flora, and fauna of Bohol. They were chosen strategically to represent the tourist attractions such as the Chocolate Hills tarsiers, and beach sunsets, while incorporating lesser known endemic flora such as the hoyas flower. The palette was meant to give Bohol a distinctly fresh look and identity by shifting around these colors and using them in unique ways.
Both fonts were chosen in order to make a cohesive, smooth, and friendly impression. The intent of the typeface choices were to be readable and approachable without much room for intimidation. Specifically, rounder fonts were chosen in order to match the logo design.

We were also tasked to make various visual branding applications based on our initial logo and style of illustration to complete a full-fledged brand book, so I did my best to create a number of assets over a limited time period of one week.
