Background of Polio
On Day 1, I navigated the AI tools and every time I wanted to do something, Google and YouTube definitely became my friends. I went on searching for 'make artboards illustrator' 'make 3D text Illustrator', yadda yadda. I almost broke around midnight when I browsed and found this Reddit post, validating my thoughts about 'why Illustrator is so hard to use'. Thankfully, I was in good terms with AI on Day 2. We were finally in synergy but I need to cram everything because the tentative publishing date was in a day, so my perfectionist self got tested.
It was fun and challenging, to say the least, plus a rush of adrenaline since the purpose of the publication that I made is for something that is close to my heart as a Science and Health Writer. To be honest, I'm not 100% satisfied with this, particularly on the awful look of the buildings, the ugly bar graph, and the horrendous 'End Polio' sign, but the thing is I got over the learning curve 🤟.
I was tasked to head the publications posting team for the World Polio Day 2021 event, an initiative by Rotary Club to raise awareness in eradicating polio. Anxiety took over me because I have little knowledge when it comes to professional Social Media posting, plus, the people I worked with used Adobe Illustrator. For years of using Adobe Photoshop, I did not really have the time to learn AI. This is my first polished attempt at creating illustrations using the software, so it took me about full two days to finish the whole thing.
