For this first atonal opera from beginning of the 20th century i created a huge installation that is built in three levels along the walls on the stage of the opera house that seats an additional 250 Spectators. In the middle, the orchestra of 70 musicians is placed. Within this structure i created 4 hyperrealistic sets that depict the spaces of the Protagonists- a warehouse, a pub, a poor apartment and a laboratory as well as a bridge that connects the levels. The character of WOZZECK is constantly moving between these spaces, always on the run and followed by live cameras to make every detail visible for the spectators, as he glides into madness.
60 tons of Scaffolding were used on the whole stage, as well as 20 monitors and 4 huge projection screens with radio linked live and preproduced videocontent. We play different operas en suite in this setting for 4 months and then built back to play repertory theatre.
