This piece portrays a breezy, slightly cloudy afternoon on a beach I would hang out around near my grandparents’ house in Oahu. The natural scenery of the coasts and trails on the island serve as inspiration for my artwork, and I often incorporate broad, fluid brushwork in my landscapes.

Sherwood Beach at Waimanalo is on the eastern end of Oahu. The beach has dramatic views of mountains along the coast, and there are often strong winds that pass through the area. I go to this beach whenever I come back to Oahu.
