A critical design to comment on the city space of Singapore in the near future. It is intentionally designed to be a functional fiction, real but uncomfortable. I seek to challenge the societal norm and question the very aspects of what our needs are.
Base on a scenario of over-population leading to smaller housing, a competitive environment leading to a self-centred society, increase in technology leading to a decrease in human interaction and an invasion of foreigners diluting the Singapore's culture. The government then introduce this "kampong" living concept to bring together Singapore.
With the help of HDB, the Modern "Kampong" is realised in a neighbourhood with each design housing 3 families together, sharing 1 common area. Within the design, there is only 1 necessary item per family, resulting in an increase in interaction among family members as well as between neighbours.
