Graphic Design: Interiors at Intel

Low quality existing image photography is sometimes just part of the job, but we make it work! These Photoshop mock ups for a previously all white space at Intel corporation in were inspired by the South West desert area with colors and graphics. I worked alongside the Lead Interior Designer to select paint, wood millwork, created custom wall graphics to support the location, and work with existing flooring and furniture.

Environmental graphic design, or EGD, is a multidisciplinary field of design in which the understanding of graphic design, architecture, wayfinding, art, lighting, landscape, and more are utilized as a way to enhance the user experience through the visual translation of ideas in the built environment.

These enhancements are about integrating a story to convey a message to those experiencing it through a broad array of applications and techniques. Elements like signage, print medium, lighting, large format graphics and art installations; with strategic use of color, pattern, illustration, and typography.

Design is problem solving and EGD is no exception. Understanding the users in terms of generation and culture, what the space objective is, and how to inform the people who will interact with the space in a simple and inspiring way ensures spaces are functional and relevant. EGD can organize or inform what users and create a sense of comfort because ambiguity or confusion are eliminated.
