The Palouse

The endless rolling hills of The Palouse were made tens of thousands of years ago from winds blowing dust into the equivalent of sand dunes that covered Eastern Washington. You can drive on dirt roads for days, only occasionally seeing a tidy barn, farmhouse or grain elevator. It is quiet beauty.
The rolling plains feel endless.
The light plays against the subtile textures of the hills.
Nothing much has changed here for a hundred years.
An odd seam in the fields...
Trucks become planters for flowers
There are only a few trees for hundreds of miles.  It makes you wonder why some are allowed to grow and live on over generations.
