Final Major Project: Data
The following work is my final piece for my college course, I created a collection of vinyl records based on the divorce of someone in my life. I created a 12" paper clay record (white) and a 10" acrylic laser cut record (red).
Here is both records I created the crack in the larger record represents the idea that the marriage was 'shattered' and the assets were not evenly divided up.
This record is the main album with the cover being created with the marriage certificate, using visual language I kept the theme of red and black throughout this album to create the idea that the 'purity' of the white record is being held captive in the red 'tainted' sleeve.
This record explores the idea of the same situation but from a different perspective. the idea that the album cover is pure as it is the marriage certificate but it is holding a tainted red record, this record has the same number of grooves in it as years the marriage lasted.
Overall, this project allowed me to explore representation and how to use visual language to communicate a deeper meaning within my work.
