The Black Stallion Lounge Bar concept is from the Scandinavian architecture and design style of the 1950's. This style is characterized by functionality, minimalism, and simplicity. It primarily developed in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The idea that beautiful and functional everyday objects should not only be affordable to the wealthy, but to all, this is key for the development of modernism and functionalism.
By repurposing an existing floor plan in the Scandinavian style, I was able to architecturally achieve the simplicity and functionality requested by the client in order to meet project deadline of 4 weeks. Designing a bar required field research and a one-on-one conversation with multiple bartenders who gave feedback regarding existing bar designs in their place of employment. The feedback was used along with other research to develop The Black Stallion.
