Shelter dog: 6 invisible portraits
On February 28 at 17:00 an online exhibition of art activist projects of the online laboratory Artivism & Solidarity will open (https://artivism-solidarity.org/).Through a series of invisible dog portraits, my project reminds townspeople of the attention and love that the shelter's pets lack.
Shelter Dog is a series of illustrations of six dogs, created while working in a social illustration workshop. Her characters: Stella, Buran, Seraya Sheika, Diesel, Teona and Bergamot - real-life animals from sector 8 of the municipal shelter in Nekrasovka, where 2000 dogs and cats are kept.
A series of illustrations will show the life that these six heroes could have if the new owners took them home. Only in these pictures there are no heroes themselves, they remain invisible to the eye and thus we feel a natural desire to fill the picture, add a dog to it, and also realize that whatever the rhythm of our life, it is not so difficult to take this step. After all, many people have doubts and fears that they will not be able to become ideal owners of a pet and give it ideal conditions for life.
“The main message of “Shelter Dog” is that life in the shelter is so hard that just being at home with your owner is a great joy. Even if not with an ideal owner, not in an ideal home".
It should be remembered that the animals in the shelter are all very different, like people: each of them has its own history and its own unique character. But they all equally need their own home and owner.
