I always looked at all these different posters of cities like LA, NY, Paris, etc etc. I loved how they took pride in every significant and insignificant architecture from their city. Chennai is filled with buildings that are old and new, and many of these buildings have a quintessential role to play in our city, just like how this city has played a quintessential role in our lives. This poster (I hope) pays homage to all the buildings and eventually our city we so truly cherish. As a designer, Chennai has taught me that it's the people in this city that will jump into action whenever needed, no matter the adversity. The same people who will dance to gaana music on the streets, the same people who'd go to Kapaleeshwar temple at 6am, and then over to Ratna Cafe for Sambar Idly. The same people would stop by Bhai Kadai for biriyani in the afternoon, the same people who would go to the seatu kada for samosa, and then their tea kadai for one lemon tea, sutta and bread omelette, then over to Marina by dinner, driving across the lighthouse, passing the Santhome church, over to Sathyam for a Superstar movie and their legendary popcorn, eventually landing up home for some curd rice. This is our people and this is my city, Madras.
