Circular Leaf Vase

This vase was created by impressing a leaf into a slab of clay and handbuilding the vase after it reaches a leather hard stage.  After bisque firing, I tinted the veined areas brown and used a Mac Celadon glaze to bring out the bluish tones.  This vase was fired to a Cone 10 in the BLAAUW kiln at the Corcoran College of Art + Design.  This vase measures 9.5 inches by 2.5 inches.
These small sculptures of 3-dimensional leaves are maquettes for the larger vase form.  They were used to test the glaze combinations as well.
