The idea behind the Tillusion coffee table was to create a floating table design with sharp geometric shapes that could trick people’s minds into thinking that the table isn’t square or level and that it might topple over at any moment. The two walnut panels for the top and bottom and two maple panels for the sides of the table were CNC Routed to make sure that the dimensions would be perfect according to the sketches and designs and that all the edges would be sharp and clean. Once cut the pieces all had to be sanded down and inside corners squared out and glued and then the final stages of the sanding and oiling could be done.
