ADVE2292 Design Lab 2: Project 3 Factbook

The goal of this project is to create an informational booklet about India, presented by the office of tourism, and using the same logo and brand guidelines as the preceding projects. The audience for this factbook is individuals ages 20-30 which will impact how the information is presented and the layout of each page.

Moodboards

I separated my visual exploration into two sections; layouts and covers. I want to utilize a simple, mostly graphic approach to my fact book and emphasize shapes and line in my imagery.

Sketches and Content Plan

I first did some rough sketches for how I want to design the general layouts of my page spreads and the covers and spine. I want to keep the design shape-based, and simple. I also want to incorporate title pages for each section.

I created a content plan to keep track of what information goes where and how many pages I will need. I decided to not place title pages on the same side of the spread so as to reduce the number of pages in my factbook.

Progress

I started on my initial spread design with the background section as it is short and showcases both a title page and a body copy page so I could see what they would look like together.

I have set up my pages with a decently portioned grid so I can have two column text and place images and graphs within the grid and relative to the text layout.

I chose to change the coloring of the title page image frames and the subheadings, swapping the green and blue, so the text is more uniform and the title pages use the coloring of the Indian flag.
