SHOW US YOUR TYPE is a project about two things: type and cities.
The project started to provide a creative platform for designers to share their talents and explore cities from a different perspective. The only requirement is to create a A3 poster that must contain the name of a specific city for each edition, and a typeface created by the designer. This was the project's first edition with a GIF challenge.
When talking about Tokyo is impossible not to think about the exotic japanese culture and the iconic image of the Geisha. Since the beginning I wanted a very clean poster where the main focus was the typeface created. Using solid bold colors and basic shapes the type was created using the traditional movements of the fan dance as a starting point. In the end the visual style is very clean and minimal, but totally recognizable for the viewer.
