CORE2291 Digital Design Lab 1: Project 4 Photoshop Techniques
The goal of this project was to pick an article, create a photo composite in Photoshop for that article, and then put both the text from the article & the photo composite into the context of a magazine spread. The aim being to make the article that you choose look like it belongs in The Atlantic magazine. While working in photoshop we focused on making non-destructive edits so you can always go back and make further edits and changes.
Part 1
Photoshop Techniques
We learned how to further use the quick mask tool to ensure quality selections.
We learned how to use Fill color and Blend mode to enhance our photo composite.
We used Free Transform to size our images so we could fit whatever we needed onto the page.
This video introduced Smart Object and explained how they work and how you can best use them.
I used Paragraph Styles to change some of the Subheads and the body copy.
We learned how to properly credit the photography we used in the project.
Part 2
Visual Exploration
Upon exploration I really appreciated the collage style and wanted to implement that into my design. As well as the multiple elements to bring attention to the moving article.
