This site for this mixed use complex is very well situated by the ring road in Wuhan overlooking the river that runs parallel to the site. The site has an unusual orientation and we address this by placing an anchor deep into the site towards the main green area and river views. This anchor helps us activate the commercial streets that are covered by a green belt on either side.

The central path created because of this becomes the main retail street with high value retail options. We looked at pebbles shaped by the movement of running water to give the retail areas a unique formal characteristic. Alongside the main green belt is the main building that serves as a podium for the towers that house SOHO apartments, LOFT apartments and offices while the podium functions as a theme park and the existing furniture market that is located on the site. The residential area is located towards the north west of the site with other residential buildings in the context.
