In 2010, FELT designed the building facade for two retail stores in the pedestrian street in downtown Aarhus, as well as a rooftop terrace for the overlying apartments in the building.  

 

The terrace is made up of fiber reinforced concrete pavement, COR-TEN steel boxes, green vegetation and a wooden deck. The rooftop, which has a rough urban character, is located on the back of the pedestrian street – an area that primarily serves as delivery hub for the many shops in the street.

 

The design takes inspiration in the raw nature of the area, but the green vegetation, which grows from the "cracks" in the raw concrete, makes the rooftop terrace more inviting and livable. The fiber reinforced concrete tiles do not cover the entire surface, but are arranged in a way that makes it look like the beginning of something new.
