404: Memory Not Found
404: Memory Not Found asks what is memory? How can a moment that seems obscure feels very warm and close to us? This series also invites us to reflect and give new meaning to items that are considered damaged.
This series features everyday things in my life on polaroid paper that has been damaged by heat. Honestly, I don't know why a broken Polaroid paper that is greenish and displays an unclear image can create the impression of a close memory. Before inspired to create this series, I had thrown away so many Polaroid papers because they were deemed damaged and couldn't produce colors that match reality. However, one day, when I saw the photo of the cat, I suddenly felt very close to the moment even though the image was not clear because of the damaged paper. Maybe the Polaroid paper isn't damaged, just a little different from reality.
From the process of this work, I learned to put expectations aside, accept whatever life gives joyfully, and give a new perspective to 'broken' goods.
My conclusion, perhaps, is that life is just a series of events that almost always differ from expectations. It often upsets us, but that's why life is beautiful. The strongest memory is created between events that "turn" out of expectations. Maybe that's why this series feels so close to us, because the visuals created 'turn' from expectations.
