The experience of meeting thousands of film lovers on a warm August evening at Piazza Grande, all sharing a passion for quality, diverse auteur cinema and experiencing the magic of an exciting, beautifully made movie, while sitting on one of those black and yellow chairs under the sky is the essence and soul of Locarno Film Festival. Last year’s edition was different. Last year was different. Life was put on hold and most importantly we experienced fear and terrible loss.
The concept of my poster is the concept of hope, that in summer 2021 we will be able to finally wake up from this nightmare, get out there, live fully and enjoy festivals together. The pencil illustration presents the Locarno leopard, showing up in the poster frame for the first time after lockdown, stretching and getting ready for action. Besides the symbol of the festival, the minimalist aesthetic highlights the 74th edition’s dates, which we all are looking for.
