Overview
In 2017 Globo TV decided to renew the visual identity for all of it's local news shows in all of Brazil, unifying the visual language into a single design system which was flexible enough to be customized to each subsidiary local news shows needs.

The news direction defined that the first news show to debut the new identity would be all the local shows from São Paulo city ("Bom Dia São Paulo", "SPTV 1st edition" and "SPTV 2nd edition), which would all serve as a pilot in the first month to, in a later moment, deploy the visual identity guidelines to all local shows from Globo TV affiliates throughout Brazil (more than 122 affiliates spread in the whole country).

This project covered the development of the whole design system, from visual identity to labes, typography and interactive systems.
My role was mostly related with the visual identity team (logo, icon design, map design, labels design) and with the interactive screen system team (UX and UI design).
Visual Identity
The visual identity was designed in a way it was easily scalable for other affiliates. Each affiliate has three daily local news shows (morning, noon and evening), usually named as "Bom Dia <City>", "<City> TV 1" and "<City> TV 2".

The design team created a typography and logo family which would have a strong time identifier (the sun for the "Bom Dia", the orange TV for the "TV1" and the blue TV for the "TV2), which would allow each affiliate to easily change the city name and adapt the design system. All visual elements were strongly related with the icons from the interactive touch screen system created for the show, reinforcing that the show is local (using the city map as basis) and has live dynamic information (using the animated icons which mirror the interactive system).

The text label system was also completely redesigned, allowing the news director to have constant textual support for the show while also automatically showing live weather information.
The visual elements and color palette for each show were designed to illustrate the differences of light through a single day, having warmer soft tones in the morning show (Bom Dia), bright and contrasted sunlight on the noon show (SP1) and darker and bluer tones on the evening show (SP2).
The opening sequence was derived from the visual design of the interactive touch screen system. Having the city map as the main element and using geo-located animated icons, the opening sequence is like a travel on the interactive system, showing all the live information happening all at once. Same as in the logo design, the sky and lighting for each opening sequence matches the time which the show airs
The labels were designed using the newly designed typography for Globo, Globotipo. Each show had one identity color (yellow for morning, orange for noon, blue for evening), and the text display and layout were designed according to each need for every moment of the show.
Interactive touch screen system
As mentioned before, the visual identity of the show is completely derived from the elements which were actually first designed for the interactive touch screen system.

With a strong intent to have the news show more dynamic for the audience, the show directors wanted to showcase live information sources on air in a digital way, allowing everyone watching TV to see that the presenters were live and accessing real time information from several sources on the go.

The system, which was developed using VIZRT software, allows presenters to access live information such as:
• Live weather data per neighborhood
• Live traffic data
• Live cameras spread all over the city
• Social media feeds
Screen from the live system and menus. All visual elements were designed from scratch, from the map to the icons, menus and all interactions.
