Nomads of Higher Himalaya- Part One
A nomad tent near a smaller salty lake before Tsomo riri lake, at east Ladakh border to Tibet at alleviation of 15000 ft.
at the edge of popular Tsomo riri lake at eastern Ladakh. during peak winter of mid Jan 7 KM long radius lake gets complete froze, can run truck.
A nomad family in-front of their tent, live with their animals with temperature of -20 to 30 during peak winter.
sheeps are being tide up for milking after their days grazing, during harsh winter thousand of live stock dies due snow and lacks of rations, usually each tent( family) will have1000 to little more.
barley, wheats, peas and other floor morsel are feeded before milking.
climate change and other external changes brings the nomads unprepared and unwelcoming situations..sometimes in heavy loss.
In the past the tent used was from animals.. give quite warm now the most are from army at step near.

Over the year most kids are being sent boarding schools sometimes to cities beyond Ladakh. not in long while, in next 16 years will kids returns????

A Shepard at mid day. 3 decades back the nomads met their needs, they travelled to Zanskar with salt and wool for wheat, barley, peas ... a vast no. of present trekking route was their prints.
