The orc in a pumpkin
Basic information:
The model was created in Blender 2.90, rendered in Cycles (2160p, 500/1000 samples), model was textured in Substance Painter (2048p textures). Textures were afterwards exported and implemented into the model itself. All pictures are presenting retopologised model.
The model itself:
First of all I created the pumpkin with a hunting expression, I used some reference pictures of pumpkins to create basic shape, than I expanded some parts to create base and face. The orc is seperate model, which was created with a help of some reference pictures of a human, than I stretched ears and changed a face expression to look more angry.
Eyes:
Eyes were created in Blender such as procedural texture. The eye have two parts,
sclera-cornea and iris, iris was created with noise and veronoid texture, the red color with orange centre was chosen, because of angry and secret expression.
Lightning:
I used area lights in light blue color, such as a moon light to highlight the pumpkin and orc. Inner parts of pumpkin were lightened as well in bright yellow color to achieve typical golden effect of pumpkin, which is illuminated by candles.
Retopology:
Both of the parts were sculpted and than retopologised. I reduced number of polygons from 3 million to a little bit higher than 100k polygons. Consequently I baked color, normal and roughness maps from original into the image textures for retopologised model.
