It is not an exaggeration to say that the jewels produced by master artisan
Sergio Figar in his atelier "Antracite Gioielli" ("Anthracite Jewels") are
unique, as Figar is the sole designer and executor of the jewels in their
every detail, down to the cut of the precious gems which he composes into
refined "mosaics"( inlays).
For over twenty years he has courageously followed his own path of
aesthetic exploration, creating forms which are constantly innovative
while incorporating his knowledge of and experience with inlays techniques
passed on from the Italian Renaissance. Using gems with a vast array of
particularities and nuances he is able with every commission through his
imagination and sensibility to skilfully create a irreplicable
polychromatic composition (there are variations and peculiarities inherent
to each jewel, even in those designs produced in extremely limited
edition).
The notion and concept of "jewel" is thus constantly renewed and
personalised by an aesthetic and technique which from its surface permeates
into the depths of the metal: an execution which is in its very essence an
artistic and spiritual meditation.
The opal is a constant presence in Sergio Figar's compositions, personally
chosen as the ideal substance with which to integrate and illuminate the
entire composition. Often this rainbow of colours and forms is accompanied
by pavé diamonds giving birth, through light, to new harmonies.
These fantasies realised by the artisan can only be further stimulated by
the interaction of his implicitly personal art with the richness of each
client's special desire, together giving birth to what rather than a mere
object, is an act of love.
