Projection Mapping

Peer In was a proposed art installation in direct response to my own experience of Bulgaria and its culture. At its core is an animated motion graphic sequence which illustrates my personal journey while staying in Bansko in the Pirin Mountains. The narrative of the piece is influenced by the natural beauty of the mountains and highlights elements of Bulgarian folk culture. In particular the colour and pattern of traditional embroidery and the haunting sound of female folk choirs are important sources of inspiration.

It is a fully integrated multimedia installation consisting of four simultaneous projections that interact with a continuous band of relief that runs the whole way around the walls of the exhibition room. It is a site-specific work and was specially conceived to complement the spectacular period interior of the Bulgarian Embassy in Prague. Thus, the sculptural reliefs of the installation are inserted into, and framed by, the decorative panels that are such a special feature of the former palace's ball room.
