WHAT'S YOUR POISON? ADDICTIVE ADVERTISING OF THE 40s - 60s
I concepted and designed this soft cover miniature book featuring vintage cigarette and alcohol ads. For this rose-colored retrospective of the advertising machine that hooked a generation on cigarettes and alcohol, I used a color palette of yellow, red, black and white to convey a feeling of danger and the sophistication of yesteryear. The exaggerated halftone texture used for the background reflects the time period. The modern commentary boxes that accompany the ads have been placed in black and white text boxes recalling today’s cigarette warning labels.

TV WONDERLAND: THE ENCHANTMENT OF EARLY TELEVISION
I concepted and designed this soft cover miniature book that captures the excitement and promise of television in its golden era, specifically through 1950s advertisements. I made sure all of the dividers, frames, and accompanying design elements were true to the time period, to capture the charming exuberance of these ads. Placing the elements against a blue screen with tv scan lines fit the theme and added to the retro feel.

RETRO BAKING: 100 CLASSIC CONTEST WINNERS UPDATED FOR TODAY
I concepted and designed everything but the dust jacket (this was done before I came on board) for this book, part of a series of retro themed cookbooks. Retro Baking was inspired by company sponsored cooking contests and small town bake-offs. For each recipe page, I combined scanned vintage images, clip art, and my own free-form shapes and designs in a colorful kitschy style reflecting the spirit of the era. My personal challenge was to make each of the 124 pages distinct.

RETRO KIDS COOKING: TIMELESS RECIPES FOR COOKS OF ALL AGES
I concepted and designed everything but the cover and dust jacket (these were done before I came on board) for this book, part of a series of retro themed cookbooks. Retro Kids Cooking was designed to let kids share the fun of cooking "no matter what age". For each recipe page, I combined scanned vintage images, clip art, and my own free-form shapes and designs in a colorful kitschy style reflecting the spirit of the era. My personal challenge was to make each of the 124 pages distinct.
