For a package design course in 2020, we were assigned the task of designing and constructing a package for a fake children's toothpaste brand. I chose to named my brand Smiling Monkey, and to work with Roberta, a little capuchin girl I designed and created a few years prior and had been toying with on and off for a few years.
The final file was a template the instructor created for us of a toothpaste box, with us adding all of our text, graphics, and imagery in Adobe Illustrator. My illustrated work (including Roberta, the raspberries, and the blue leafy background) were all constructed in ProCreate for iPad.
I went with a blue base palette for the product as blue packaging encourages consumers that a product is trustworthy, as well as presenting calming vibes. The blue background is also part of the reason I chose Roberta, because I felt her orange-tinted skin and bright, light-lavender hair would pop brilliantly against my darker blue hue.
We also used Adobe Dimensions to construct models of toothpaste tubes, as seen below:
