For this Studio II assignment I was given a list of artifacts and their sizes as well as the dimensions of the lobby display cases at the Smithsonian Museum of American History. I was told to design something dynamic, colorful, and engaging. This was difficult because the cases were sealed, limiting human interaction.
The concept chosen represents a sponsor relationship where Trivial Pursuit teams up with the museum to create an American History Trivial Pursuit. The artifacts on the list presented a survey of American history and culture, therefore lending themselves well for this interactive.
Each artifact section asks the visitor a number of questions relating to the artifact. The correct answers can be found in the museum map pamphlet at the adjacent information desk. Those visitors with smartphones can scan QR codes for an additional gameplay that can be continued at home.
