Cinema Poster Art 2

PURPOSE
Cinema has been a constant companion for me In the last few months. It has immensely impacted the way I see and perceive things these days. I have made a habit of watching at least one movie per day. This series is a second edition to my previous series Cinema Poster Art, but taking a different direction in terms of visual treatment. I wanted to channel my love for cinema by making and designing these posters. So I have gone ahead and designed posters for 12 of my favorite movies by some of the director's works I look into and have influenced my life in some way or other.

APPROACH
The approach was quite simple, stated off by making a list of movies that I was covering, then I started gathering images from the movie which felt interesting, later I had created my own library of images so that It would come in handy during compositing. I wanted to make a collage and worn out poster effect. Also, I wanted these posters to have a minimalistic look with very few details, and I didn’t want to use any color so that it goes well with my aesthetics.

SCHEDULE
Since there are 12 of these, I decided on doing one poster per day, also since I had my own library of images the process was a lot faster. It took me around 3 weeks to get everything done. Poster, typography, and mockups, etc.

WRAP
By the end of the project, I was able to come up with designs that were minimalistic yet they spoke a lot about the movie and were easy to connect to the audience, and very much relatable. Also, the process was rapid and fast, I got things done a lot faster. Also since these posters carry a different visual treatment it was really interesting to try and play around with different textures and effects so that it felt natural and organic, that was a huge challenge as well. Which in turn helped me learn a lot of different techniques. I will continue to explore movies and possibly come up with the next set of posters in my next series with different treatment and aesthetics.
